August 12-14, 2021
Tyler Branagan, PhD, Program Chair
Greetings from the Society for Health Psychology (SfHP) Program Committee! Thank you to the many SfHP members who generously volunteered their time reviewing abstract submissions. Each year we rely on members’ support in creating a program which demonstrates the value and innovation of health psychologists. The process of planning the program for the meeting would not be possible without you.
The past year has been unimaginably difficult for so many, but health psychologists across the globe have stepped up and made a difference. In addition to our typical health psychology science, practice, and professional development opportunities, SfHP is excited to emphasize the many ways health psychologists have made an impact during the pandemic.
Our program includes sessions that highlight this year’s theme of health psychologists’ response to crisis and improving health equity. SfHP Presidential Programming includes the following presentations and workshop:
- Presidential Address by Dr. Helen Coons
- A discussion led by Dr. Tanecia Blue, chair of Diversity Council: Goals for Society of Health psychology Diversity Equity, and Inclusion
- Symposia by Drs. Erin Hall, James Jackson, Megan Hosey, Renee Madathil on: The Role of Psychologists in the Care and Recovery of Critically Ill COVID-19 Patients
The convention will once again occur in a digital format with pre-recorded and interactive sessions. Registrants will have access to prerecorded content for the year following the convention. Convention attendees can also look forward to many presentations prepared by SfHP Councils and Committees, including symposia sponsored by the Women’s Health Interest Group, Health Research Council, Diversity Council, Early Career Professionals Council, and ABPP.
You can look forward to learning more about these and the other programming in future SfHP and APA communications. We look forward to making the full schedule available by June at: societyforhealthpsychology.org.
Convention registration will open in May 2021 — and because of the digital format, it is more affordable than ever! Registration information will be available at: www.apa.org/convention.
We hope you’ll be joining the SfHP and your colleagues for the convention this year!
