I am honored to run for Treasurer/Secretary of the Society for Health Psychology. I am an Associate Professor of Psychology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science and conduct intervention research on increasing physical activity in populations that often struggle with physical activity (e.g., adults with diabetes, depression or a lower limb amputation). I joined APA and the SfHP in 2009, and became more formally involved in the SfHP in 2013, when I became a member of the Social Media Committee, and then Chair. As current chair of the Membership Committee, I initiated outreach to new members, tracked the success of membership strategies such as the Congratulate Your Graduate program, and worked with other SfHP committees and councils to identify novel approaches to diversify and increase our membership.

Our members are the biggest strength of the SfHP: their willingness to share information with colleagues over the list-serv, their passion for advocacy and promoting health psychology, and their interest in training and supporting the next generation of health psychologists. I have benefited greatly from my SfHP membership by including the integrated primary care curriculum content into my health psychology course, by advocating for policy changes I learn about from SfHP resources, and of course, through the relationships I developed with members. As Treasurer/Secretary, I will prioritize fiscally sound opportunities to support our members, especially student members, and encourage the assessment of new initiatives to ensure they achieve desired goals.
