SfHP’s role in APA and in the country is to support and advance the profession of Health Psychology in the clinic, research labs, APA, and political realm. I am compelled to represent and engage SfHP membership in advocacy for our profession at all tables. I would be honored to be elected and serve as Council Representative for SfHP at the APA Council of Representatives. As a clinical health psychologist in psych-oncology at Henry Ford Health System, an urban, tertiary care hospital and cancer center in Detroit, I work in and research the issues that health psychology can address, including disparities and access. I hold multiple clinical, research, and leadership roles that span HFHS. Recognizing the need to engage locally and nationally, I am a member of APA, Society for Health Psychology, Society of Clinical Psychology (SCP), Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC), and Michigan Psychological Association (MPA). As the 2017 and 2019 APAHC Conference Co-chair, I liaised with APA’s Education Directorate to coordinate site visitor and internship self-study training, SfHP for Spring Meeting coordination, and SCP for CE offerings for the conferences. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in the APAHC Research and Membership Committees, Interprofessional Education and Professional Wellness special interest groups, and am now Member-At-Large on the APAHC Board. In Michigan, I serve on the MPA Integrated Care Committee, setting forth advocacy issues for MPA with insurance companies and the Michigan legislature. Thank you for your consideration.
