Candidate for President-Elect
It is a great honor for me to be nominated for President-Elect of my professional home, the Society for Health Psychology.
I am an Associate Professor of Medical Social Sciences, Surgery, and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. I provide clinical care, as the sole psychologist for our adult kidney, liver, and lung transplant programs. My research focuses on patient-centered outcomes, with an eye towards improved care quality. I also supervise and mentor graduate students, medical residents, and fellows.
I have served the Society in a number of key roles including inaugural chair of the Early Career Professionals’ Council, Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors, editorial board member of Health Psychology, coordinator of the Health Psych Connections mentorship program, and member of the Long Range Planning Task Force, among other positons. My energetic leadership in these roles has been recognized through Society and APA Presidential Citations. For more information on my clinical, research, and professional service background within the Society, APA, and more broadly, please visit http://www.zeeshanbutt.com.
As your President, my overarching goal will be to build stronger connections between our clinical- and research-focused members in a way that will enhance both. We can accomplish this by developing continuing education opportunities, disseminating evidence-based practice, and other creative means, guided by your feedback. I’m asking for your #1 vote to help foster our collective sense of community and professional growth as health psychologists.
