Candidate for Division Representative to APA Council (2019-2021)
As a Fellow of Division 38, I would be honored to serve as your Representative on APA Council.
I would ensure health psychology has a strong voice on Council given both the scientific and practice issues that Council addresses in developing APA policy. I am completing my second elected term on APA’s Commission for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Psychology and remain very familiar with how APA’s governance system functions and how to move our Division’s agenda forward in APA. In Division 38, I have served as Treasurer, co-chair of the Continuing Education Committee, member of the Ethics and Fellows Committees, and have been the recipient of the Timothy Jeffrey Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Health Psychology. I have knowledge of, and substantial experience with, integrated care from primary care to tertiary care, and I am thereby able to continue to assist health psychology in being an integral part of healthcare. I have published two textbooks on health psychology, over thirty chapters and journal articles on health psychology in healthcare settings, and serve as a Clinical Professor in the APA-accredited psychology graduate and internship programs at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. It is crucial that Division 38 has strong voices advocating for health psychology as a science, a healthcare specialty, and be deeply involved in educating psychology’s next generation. I will be an experienced, strong representative for Division 38 on APA Council. Thank you for your #1 vote.
