On Saturday, April 22, 2017, 1.3 million people gathered for rallies and marches in over 600 cities across the world for the March for Science. APA was an official partner of the March, and members of the Society for Health Psychology (SfHP) were there to represent our field. Here are some of the photos from various Marches submitted by our members to The Health Psychologist. Thank you to all who sent in photos! Please click on any photo to view the full slideshow.
Michelle T. Jesse, PhD (see first photo) and her family attended the March in Detroit, MI, and shares, “There is a very personal reason for the sign on polio. Both of my maternal grandparents contracted polio and lost the full use of their legs. Years late, Salk discovered the vaccine. My grandparents were able to walk with crutches or braces when they were younger, but by the time I came along they were entirely wheelchair bound (and this was when nothing was wheelchair accessible). I loved them very much and am very proud of them. They are just one of the reasons we marched.”
