Happy summer from the SfHP Student Council!
The SfHP student council co-hosted a mentor breakfast session at the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM)’s 38th Annual Meeting in San Diego, California in March with the SBM Student Special Interest Group. We were thrilled with the number of SfHP members who participated, both as mentors and mentees. Thank you again to all who participated! We have received positive feedback and plan to co-host a similar event next year.
Speaking of conferences, the SfHP student council has a number of planned events at this year’s APA Convention in Washington, DC. Please mark your calendars for the following events:
Internship Meet and Greet Event: Each year the SfHP hosts this event in order to give psychology pre-doctoral internship/post-doctoral training directors and students/interns a chance to interact. All are welcome! If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by emailing the Student Council Chair at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note in your email whether you will be attending as a student/intern or representing an internship/post-doc site.
Date: Friday, August 4th
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Location: Marriot Marquis, Salon 14
Ask an Intern: Student Internship Application Q&A: All interested students are invited to attend an informal Q&A session with health psychology interns/post-docs who have recently gone through the internship application process. Please feel free to come with any questions you may have or just to listen.
Date: Saturday, August 5th
Time: 9:00am – 10:00 am
Location: SfHP Hospitality Suite (Exact location will be assigned at a later date and posted throughout the convention areas)
We are sadly losing 5 of our Student Advisory Council members, as their terms are coming to an end this August. Thank you again to Marissa Alert, Lisa Auster-Gussman, Natasha DePesa, Angela Gutierrez, and Matthew Jasinski for your amazing work these past two years! The SfHP Student Advisory Council recently accepted applications for new members; they will be announced later this summer.
Thank you to SAC members whose terms are ending:
