The Student Council is looking forward to many upcoming Society events and opportunities this year.

The SfHP Student Council is co-hosting a breakfast session at this year’s Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) 38th Annual Meeting in San Diego, California on Thursday, March 30th at 7:00 am. The session will provide students and trainees the opportunity to receive mentorship from senior experts in a small group setting. Many SfHP members have agreed to participate as mentors in this session, including: Dr. Dawn Wilson, Dr. Bonnie Spring, Dr. Lori Waxenberg, and Dr. Joanna Buscemi. Students who are scheduled to attend SBM should sign up to attend this breakfast session here:

We are excited about our thriving Campus Representative Program. Our representatives have held events all over the country to bring the health psychology community together. As a reminder, the Campus Representatives Program was initiated a few years ago by the Student Council as a mechanism for students to get further involved with the Society and to promote health psychology within campuses across the country. Sara Hills from Oklahoma State University hosted a professional social with local health psychologists and doctoral students from clinical, counseling, and school concentrations. Aviva Ariel-Donges from University of Florida hosted a health psychology career panel for students within the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology. Laura VanWort from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology is hosting a poster session and raffle for students with a health psychology interest. These are just some examples of events hosted by SfHP student members recently. Many more are planned for the coming year; keep an eye out for events in your area.

Please save the date for an Internship Program Meet and Greet at the 2017 APA Convention. The event will be held on Friday, August 4th from 6:00-7:00pm and will allow students and trainees an opportunity to meet internship/post-doctoral training directors from across the country with specializations in health psychology.
