Ted Robles, PhD
Thanks for considering me as Treasurer for the Society for Health Psychology. I am an Associate Professor of Psychology at UCLA in the Health area. For the past 10 years, with funding from NIH and the William T. Grant Foundation, my research has focused on understanding the biological mechanisms that link high (and low) quality marital and family relationships to health across the lifespan. For the past two years, I have been serving as Director of the University of California Intercampus Consortium on Health Psychology, which is supported by a 3-year grant from the University of California to promote collaborations across the 10-campus UC system related to resilience and health through providing seed grant funding and holding annual conferences.
I served SfHP as website co-editor along with Kim Dixon from 2008 – 2010, and then Austin Baldwin from 2010 – 2012; together we ushered the site through major facelifts and changes in functionality, and helped the Society into the Social Media era. I was also involved in the Long-Term Planning process in 2009 and have seen how long-term goals get translated into yearly action plans and initiatives. I was also the Program Chair for the 2013 Convention in Honolulu. As Treasurer, I will commit to providing conscientious oversight and timely reporting of the Society’s finances and investments, and look forward to working with the membership to support the Society’s efforts to move health psychology research, practice, teaching, and advocacy forward.
